Have you ever...

Have you ever felt falling rain taste like your tears and realized they were your tears?
I have.

Have you ever felt like hugging yourself after smelling freshly rained upon earth?
I have.

Have you ever felt like sharing silence with someone, yet walked away understanding volumes?
I have.

Have you ever wanted to protect someone from the evils of this world?
I have.

Have you ever wanted to cuddle up with someone, and feel protected?
I have.

Have you ever wanted to love someone with an unmatched passion and an immeasurable love?
I have.

Have you ever wanted to be loved for who you are, unconditionally, proudly, completely?
I have.

Have you ever felt the urge to catch hold of someone and kiss them long and hard?
I have.

Have you ever felt the insanity of throwing caution to the wind and following your heart?
I have.

Have you ever wanted to be made love to under a million stars, chirpy silence all around you?
I have.

Have you ever...?
I have.

For you, I wait....

For the one who'll come n sweep me off my feet.
For ever.

For the one who'll make every moment a treat.
Always.

For the one who'll hold me close so we're together.
Eternally.

For the one who'll tickle my brain with an intellectual feather.
All my life.

For you, with bated breath I wait.

When, when will it be you?

Waiting to be born...

Struggling against an unknown block,
Trying to break free
And come out in this world - unfettered.
Running amok
Yet going round n round in circles,
Pushed back by an unseen hand.
Building on itself
Then breaking into a thousand pieces,
Taking on a new form
Still, remoulding right back into the original...

Waiting to be born -
Waiting to be penned down and given an identity -
Voices, in my head,
Laughter, in my heart,
Thoughts, in my mind.

In the still of the night...

She tiptoed - ever so gently - across to his room,
Her passion a riot of colors.
She stood at his door and looked this way and that
And then inside where he lay
Sleeping like a child, curled up, as if in his mother's womb.
She closed the door behind her
And reached out to him, yet stopped short of waking him up.
He looked so much at peace
Oblivious of her ragged breath, of the turmoil within her.
She kissed his forehead and left.
Tomorrow, after all, would be another day filed with longing.
Tonight was his to be alone with his dreams.

Budding Love

A soft whisper of a sigh escaped her lips as he let go of her - a hand still firmly on the small of her back to hold her steady. It was like he knew she'd never been kissed that way before. Slow, yet passionate; a degree of urgency, filled with love and desire.

She held on to him, as he to her - each trying to steady the other. He looked at her in wonder. Where had she been all his life? That gentle sigh told him she felt the same way about him as he did about her. Could they be any more blessed? Any luckier? Any more in love?

She looked up at him tenderly, shyly, her lips giving away her contentment by being a bit swollen, a bit curled upwards in a smile that reached her eyes. He reached over and kissed the top of her forehead, smelling the wispy fragrance of her shampooed hair. She nestled in his arms, her cozy world protected. Cocooned in each other's love, they slipped into a gentle slumber, dreaming of holding and kissing each other.

Aah! The beauty of new love.

Woman...Me...II

This is the sequel - if you will - to my jottings 'Woman...Me...'..It came about after a septagenarian nudged me into thinking of how I would be post 70. My attempt...

Wisdom lined lips
That yet curve into an impish smile
Speaking volumes of
A romance well- and long- lived.

Kohl lined eyes
Deep pools of knowledge
Now restrained by prescription glasses
Twinkling still with mischief.

Leathery hands
That once held a champagne flute tenderly
As if making love to it
Now hold a cane just as elegantly .

Weathered feet
That not so long ago
Danced a stilletoed step
Find their way slowly, yet surely.

She stands hunched over
Yet her spirit stands straight, proud, tall

Who is this, we wonder
An epitome of strength, even at 75, this woman...

Every woman...
And definitely, I cross my fingers,
At 75,
Me.

Woman...Me...

The hint of a kiss on her lips
She walks around - an inscrutable enigma
A whiff of mystery -
A heavy cloak around her delicate shoulders
She walks tall, her head held high
An air of chic seduction subtly enveloping her
A twinkle in her eyes - limpid pools
Sometimes mischiveous, sometimes filled with love
A dance step in her stilletoed feet
Beautifully arched, tenderly painted, supremely elegant
Who is she...everyone's looking for her
And yet, she's everywhere - she's every woman, she is...
Me.

Murder of Trust

He stood there waiting
For the doctor to come
And tell him it was all
Going to be fine

The doctor didn't come
He looked at the time
It was, alarmingly,
A quarter to nine

He wrung his hands
in hopeless despair
The doctor had said
He would assuredly be there

The doctor, meanwhile
Was doing his rounds
In the rooms of people
Who were wealthy beyond bounds

This was a doctor
Who I thought had cared
For the unwealthy
And saw to it that well they fared

It's all about the money
With a heavy heart I understood
And if he had a choice between some life and money
Choose the money he would

At this murder of trust
My faith was stunned
And now when I'm asked to believe
I stand totally disillusioned
